Your story is the foundation of your case.
At MindWorks Psychological Services, we provide independent, HIPAA-compliant immigration psychological evaluations that help individuals and families navigate one of the most important processes of their lives. Each evaluation is thorough, evidence-based, and clinically precise, written to meet the standards of USCIS, immigration attorneys, and immigration courts while honoring the unique experiences behind every case.
Our evaluations go beyond documentation — they seek to understand and convey the emotional and psychological realities behind your story. Many of our clients have faced separation, trauma, fear of persecution, or prolonged hardship, and we take care to translate those experiences into clear, clinically grounded reports that help decision-makers understand their full impact.
Every evaluation is conducted with cultural humility, compassion, and professional integrity, ensuring your voice is represented accurately and respectfully. We recognize that no two stories are alike, and we take time to understand your background, values, and life context so that your evaluation feels authentic to who you are.
Whether you are applying for a Hardship Waiver, VAWA, Asylum, U-Visa, T-Visa, or Cancellation of Removal, our role is to help you feel supported throughout the process. We create a space where you can share your story openly and without judgment, knowing that your experiences will be met with empathy, clinical expertise, and care.
I’m honored to hear your story.
I’m Dr. Mary Lou Ancheta and I’ve had the privilege of hearing countless stories of courage, resilience, and survival throughout my work in hospital, forensic, and outpatient settings. These experiences have shaped my belief that psychological evaluations are not just clinical tools—they’re opportunities to honor each person’s unique story.
At MindWorks, we take a whole-person approach, recognizing that every individual carries a lifetime of experiences that shape who they are today. Our evaluations are written with accuracy, objectivity, and compassion, providing both the clinical and human context needed to strengthen your immigration case.

It’s a privilege to hear your story.
I’m Alexus Higa, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to supporting individuals and families as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. My work focuses on providing independent, evidence-based, and compassionate immigration evaluations that help clients share their stories with clarity, authenticity, and confidence.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in community settings, private practice, and in clinical supervision roles. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of how resilience, culture, and connection shape each person’s journey. They’ve also strengthened my belief in the power of empathy, collaboration, and trust to create meaningful change.
I approach every evaluation with care, respect, and cultural sensitivity, ensuring that each person feels heard, valued, and supported throughout the process. My goal is to offer a safe, welcoming space where clients can share their experiences and find hope in the path forward.
What inspires me most is witnessing the strength and courage of those I work with. Every story reminds me why I do this work—to help individuals and families be seen, understood, and empowered as they build new beginnings.
I’m available to provide telehealth services to clients throughout California.
